What is the current status of massage therapy research, and is it being used to meaningfully inform training and practice? In a two-part symposium, psychologist and massage therapy researcher Christopher A. Moyer, Ph.D., will first present objective data, combined with insights drawn from his own career, to examine these topics. After the luncheon, symposium attendees and Dr. Moyer will collaborate to identify goals that the U.S. massage therapy profession should pursue to further the integration of research and practice.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Christopher A. Moyer, Ph.D., is lead author of the most highly-cited article in massage therapy research, co-editor of Massage Therapy: Integrating Research and Practice, and the foremost expert on massage therapy as a treatment for anxiety and depression. Dr. Moyer taught psychology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Denver, and University of Wisconsin-Stout, and was the first Research Section Editor of the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork.
