I grew up exchanging massages with family and friends regularly. I viewed massage as just a nice thing to do to make each other feel good. I wanted to be a nurse for a while, then physical therapist, and by college a Social Worker. Yeah, the "helping people" field was obviously where I wanted to be. It was at my college library that I found a book on Foot Reflexology. It looked so interesting that I decided to give a speech on it in Speech Class. I was so fascinated by the material that I received a professional Reflexology session to learn more about it. It was the best hour of my life up to that point! Then I began offering foot massages to my college roommates who thought I was weird for "wanting" to touch their feet, but happily offered them up! After that I wasn't nearly as interested in Sociology classes as I was in rubbing feet and learning more about how healing works. That's where it all began.
I ran a successful private practice for 8 years in Saint Augustine Florida. Two years in a row I was voted "Best Massage Therapist" of Saint Augustine. I specialize in Deep Tissue massage, blending a variety of techniques including Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular, Structural Energetic Therapy, and Foot Reflexology. My favorite areas to work on are the neck, feet, and glutes. I currently practice some Myofascial techniques, but would like to further my education in fascial work.
In September of 2010, my husband Derrek and I decided to take a year off from our "normal life" in America, and teach ESL (English as a second language) in Suzhou China. We enjoyed an amazing adventure of interesting culture, delicious food and most of all, great people. Being out of my comfort zone, every moment was filled with awareness, insights, and challenges. China was a growth producing part of my life that I will never forget; though, I did miss my country and my massage career.
In October of 2011, my husband and I moved to beautiful Fort Collins and are already feeling such a warm welcome from this community. I enjoy hiking and bicycling the trails, as well as spending time with my husband, new friends, and our new dog Ringo. Snow skiing and kayaking are on my list of fun things to learn. I love Farmers Markets and can't wait for the season to get started. I plan to get involved in Shire CSA and begin planting my veggies soon. I intend to contribute and connect to the community of Fort Collins over the years to come, in as many capacities as is feasible. Looking forward to meeting you!
